Who is the Armchair Scholar?

My name is Karen Clark and I’ve been attending Second Baptist Church in Cumberland, Maryland (see link at bottom of this page) since we moved to Cumberland over a decade ago. I have a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, Computer and Information Systems (1992), but I have been blessed with the opportunity to stay at home with my three children (ages 15, 8, and 6) since we moved to Cumberland. My husband, Tom, is a Recreations Specialist at FCI Cumberland and serves as Sunday School Director, as a deacon at our church and coaches 3rd-5th graders in the church basketball league. We’ve been married sixteen years.

I have also been blessed with many opportunities to serve the Lord inside the church and within the Cumberland community. At church, I serve as treasurer and Nominating Committee co-chair. I also teach middle-schoolers in Sunday School, teach in the Awanas program with my husband and another leader, help in crafts during Vacation Bible School (Tom helps in the gym J) and fill in for our church secretary. In the community, I’m co-leader for a 4-H club in South Cumberland (I lead intermediates/seniors; Tom and another volunteer lead Clovers) and we're both involved in Cub Scouts (I'm the leader for both the Tiger and Bear dens; Tom is Cubmaster). Tom also serves as counsellor for the God & Me religious awards program for Scouts January - May while I cover God & Country. I also volunteer in the pastoral care office at the local hospital one hour/week.

For anyone wondering why articles take so long to appear on this site (or why articles arleady posted remain under construction for so long -- other than my forgetting to remove the "UNDER CONSTRUCTION" bits, that is, LOL) please see my blog linked below for a glimpse of what my life tends to be like on a day-to-day basis -- in a word, BUSY. :-) Please feel free to leave comments/suggestions on the blog or if you'd rather, just click on the link at the bottom of every page on this site to email me...
